"The Dummy Gummy" (dummygummy)

I’ve been very curious to see real life scenarios of the autopilot in action. This video really hits home because I have this happen a lot because I’m in NJ and it is full of bad drivers from NJ, NY and PA . I highlight PA because the two that cut me off today were both from PA.
The one driver, the worst in my opinion, did it to me our work parking lot! We were both going towards the exit gate, but he decided that red octagon’s with the word STOP written on it, just wasn’t for him (I had no stop and the right of way). Thankfully, with my cat like reflexes I avoided t-boning him.
While the Tesla owner isn’t going for an exit, I will not praise him too much because he does say he wasn’t paying attention to the road in front of him, he does avoid t-boning a lovely blue sedan. The Tesla autopilot kicks in and saves the day, like goddamn batman.
I kind of wish the autopilot had one more feature. I wish it recognized dickheads that cut you off and would initiate the horn for five seconds, while projecting on the windshield a giant LED middle finger. Sorry I am from Jersey... it is just what we do (all hail the Jersey bird).

But Jersey’s thing is the opposite of keep calm.
“Overreact and call Tony. He’ll take care of it.”

It wasn’t the autopilot that saved him, it was the automatic braking system. That kind of feature has been on cars in that price bracket for years. Yet because Elon Musk the tech Jesus had some code monkeys add a few lines of code to the lane departure warning system, all the sudden people are attributing things to the autopilot function that aren’t intrinsic to it.
Don’t get me wrong, I actually approve of the implementation of the autopilot function (if not necessarily it’s distribution), I just disapprove of the way people are treating it. As though it were something more than what it actually is.

Wow.... You’re angry over something so stupid and not even prevelant in this post. I wasn’t praising him, I just thought the video was cool and was trying to add humor to a short post.
If you want to be technical marketing folks in other companies have dubbed this auto braking under adaptive cruise control. I was simply putting it how Telsa markets it.
I’ve experienced the auto-braking first hand when jaguar brought it out in 08(around there) and was terrified when I was in a test driving Packard they told me to not touch the brake in a 150k car. It was impressive and code brown worthy.
Take a chill pill.
